Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot

The Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot is a community-driven program designed to spread the benefits of economic immigration to smaller communities by creating a path to permanent residence for skilled foreign workers who want to work and live in one of the participating communities.

Eligibility

  • Has 1 year of continuous work experience in the past 3 years
  • CLB 6 for NOC O, A proven through an authorized test
  • CLB 5 for NOC B proven through an authorized test
  • CLB 4 for NOC C, D proven through an authorized test
  • Canadian high school diploma or equivalent + ECA.
  • Meet income requirements plus 50% of the LICO for rural areas
  • Meet community-specific requirements
  • Intend to live in the community
  • Job offer from one of the anticipating communities
  • Job offer must be at the same skill level, one level above or one level below the NOC that applies to the work experience

The Process

  1. Check if you are admissible – IRCC and community –wise.
  2. Find an eligible job with an employer in one of the participating communities.
  3. Once you have a job offer, submit your application for recommendation to the community.
  4. If a community recommends you, apply for permanent residence.

Requirements vary depending on the participating community. Each community will assess candidates based on how they meet its economic needs.
